NLT’s line of Smart Lamps debuted with Genesis, the world’s first cordless cap lamp to accommodate a tracking tag. For use in the harshest environments, the intrinsically safe (IS), all-in-one Genesis cap lamp has the capacity to accommodate a variety of tracking tag options while keeping the battery and light source in a single high-impact, IP67 enclosure. Its innovative engineering makes it programmable, with custom functionality to support 3rd-party solutions, as well as customizable for bidirectional communication.
Genesis is available in MSHA, IECEx / ATEX, ANZEx and non-certified models as a tag-ready, standalone lamp and certified MSHA IS with Extronics / AeroScout tracking tags. This cap lamp is an ideal choice for mines looking for a cordless lamp today with plans to introduce tracking in the future. - Tracking-tag or proximity-tag enabled: Tags are primarily used for location tracking of personnel and access control. A key benefit is pinpointing the location of miners during an emergency. Proximity tags are used for worker safety.
- Tag is powered by the lamp: Once installed into the NLT lamp, there is never a need to change the tag battery. The Genesis lamp provides optimum power for the tag.
- Bidirectional communication: Limited bidirectional capability is enabled through the push button on the headpiece. This button is used for a variety of functions, including (but not limited to) emergency assistance (man-down) requests, acknowledging a signal/warning or triggering a warning/alarm.
- Programmable cap lamp lights: The fully programmable cap lamp light can be used for a variety of notifications, including safety or operational alerts, e.g., for a man-down or evacuation signal, it can flash in a pre-programmed sequence. It can also be used to signal shift change or report-to-surface instructions.
- Integrated: By having the tag integrated into the cap lamp, the tag will not get left behind. Having the tag always on the miner is a very important safety consideration.
