1930s - 50s

1935 - Victor Levitt founded Levitt-Safety during the Great Depression, and his initial focus was selling first-aid products. From the back of his bicycle, Victor Levitt begins to sell industrial first aid to the growing manufacturing sector of Toronto, Ontario. He quickly expands to include safety products, and his early clients include Stelco, International Harvester, and General Electric.

1946 - Recognizing a need for rugged, high-quality extinguishers that would stand up to Canadian industry, Levitt-Safety negotiates with Ansul of Marinette, Wisconsin, to become the exclusive Canadian dealer of its innovative, dry chemical fire protection products. This innovation transformed Levitt-Safety into a national company.

1949 - Eager to expand his geographical offering, Victor opens his first branch in Montreal, Quebec, and hires his older brother Walter as a dedicated salesman to support booming sales. Walter would stay with the company in different capacities until he was 93. 

1959 - Levitt-Safety completes expansion to the West, opening branches in Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
