Levitt-Safety Now Carries CTI™ Linear Heat Detection

CTI-Detector-Cutaway-400wLevitt-Safety | Fire Protection Systems division is pleased to announce the availability of an advanced product line of Linear Heat Detectors utilizing Confirmed Temperature Initiation (CTI™) sensing technology. Made by the Protectowire Company, this patented technology reaffirms the company’s tradition of developing advanced and innovative fire detection products.

Utilizing the thermoelectric effect, the new detectors have been designed to generate a more accurate heat response and to eliminate false alarms caused by mechanical damage. Any short circuit caused by mechanical damage to the detector from such things as a falling pallet in a freezer warehouse rack, will not signal a false alarm, but be detected as a trouble or fault condition on the detection circuit. Patents have been issued in the United States and other foreign countries.

Stat-X® Earns ICC-ES Evaluation Report

Stat-X System LayoutMINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Stat-X® condensed aerosol fire suppression generators, manufactured by Fireaway, Inc., recently received an evaluation report (ESR# 3230) from ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES), providing evidence that the UL Listed electrically operated Stat-X condensed aerosol fire suppression fixed system generators meets code requirements. Building officials, architects, contractors, specifiers, designers, and others utilize ICC-ES Evaluation Reports to provide a basis for using or approving Stat-X condensed aerosol generatorsin construction projects under the International Fire Code.

ICC-ES President Shahin Moinian explains why ICC-ES Evaluation Reports are so important. “Fireaway Inc. can now reference the evaluation report to ensure building officials and the building industry that the product meets I-Code requirements,” Moinian said. “Building departments have a long history of using evaluation reports, and ICC-ES operates as a technical resource with the highest quality of product review for the building department.  Final approval of building products is always in the hands of the local regulatory agency.”

ICC-ES thoroughly examined Fireaway’s product information, test reports, calculations, quality control methods and other factors to ensure the product is code-compliant.“We are pleased that our ICC-ES evaluation report for our UL Listed electrically operated Stat-X fire suppression fixed system generators has been published. The ANSUL CHECKFIRE 210 Supervised Electronic Detection and Actuation System is engineered to stand up to extreme operating environments. This versatile system is designed to provide detection, alarm and fire suppression system actuation for mobile applications like hydraulic excavators, haul trucks, wheeled loaders, dozers and graders. The CHECKFIRE 210 is used with an ANSUL LVS, A-101, or twin agent vehicle fire suppression system for 24-hour protection of equipment. One of the hallmarks of the CHECKFIRE 210 system is its flexibility in protecting multiple hazard areas. Featuring color-coded, plug-and-play connectors, the system is equipped with two, independent detection circuits configurable for various options including single-zone detection, two-zone detection, cross-zone detection, discharge pressure feedback monitoring or alarm only. The CHECKFIRE 210 System can be found on vehicles and non-road mobile equipment in industries including agriculture, construction, forestry, mining, public transportation, public utilities and waste/recycling.



Rugged heavy equipment comes with substantial fire safety challenges often requiring an investment in life and property protection. The ANSUL CHECKFIRE 110 Electronic Detection and Actuation System offers cost-effective, single-zone detection and actuation for vehicles used in the extreme environmental and physical conditions of industries like forestry, waste/recycling, aviation and transit. The system is used with an ANSUL A-101 or LVS Vehicle Fire Suppression System for 24-hour protection of equipment. The CHECKFIRE 110 system provides electrical and/or optional pneumatic input to actuate an ANSUL fire suppression system. When fire is detected, the control module sends an electrical signal to release the gas from an expellant gas cartridge to pressurize and discharge the fire suppression system. The system features supervised circuits with color-coded, plug-and-play connectors for detection, release and external 12/24 VDC primary power source. Operating components include the compact control module, spot or linear thermal detection, electric manual actuators and a protracting actuation device.


In today’s’ machinery spaces, fires can lead to problems that go beyond loss of life and the loss of the equipment - it can lead to the destruction of a facility or the loss of a vessel.

The SECURIPLEX has the approvals that are right for your application, whether it be a self-contained or electric driven system. The SECURIPLEX water mist systems are the solution when life cycle costs are a consideration, in addition to safe and effective fire protection. Usually, it takes just one discharge from an FM-200 or other type of system to make the upfront cost of installing a competing fire protection system cost inhibitive. Stat-X First Responder

The Stat-X First Responder is a small, light, handheld unit with a pull actuator designed to be tossed into rooms with active fires to provide immediate fire suppression. When used by firefighters, it buys time for hose set-up, stops flashover, and can provide an emergency egress route through a wall of flames. Used by police first on the scene, it can slow a fire long enough to allow fire departments to arrive. The Stat-X First Responder is also an exceptional tool for energy companies for use in manhole fires and underground vaults!

Typical application scenarios include:


  • Scenario A: Firefighter arrives at the scene of an early stage fire. After evacuating people and before additional resources arrive at the scene, toss a Stat-X First Responder into the rooms which are involved with the fire. This will buy time for further rescue and for firefighters to lay hose.
  • Scenario B: Firefighters are concerned about potential flashover from a fire down a hall and water isn't available yet. Toss a Stat-X First Responder ahead of the firefighters to eliminate many of the contributing factors of a flashover.
  • Scenario C: A firefighter is trapped or can't get to a victim due to an intense area of fire. Toss a Stat-X First Responder into the flame area for immediate fire suppression.


  • Scenario A: Police arrive at a vehicle fire as a result of an accident. There are occupants trapped in the burning vehicle and the fire department has not yet arrived. Break a window, toss The Stat-X First Responder into the vehicle to knock down the fire and remove the occupants.
  • Scenario B: SWAT arrives on site and must deploy "flash bangers" into an area to stun criminals. These flash bangers often ignite combustibles. Toss a Stat-X First Responder into the flame area for immediate fire suppression for entry or to suppress fire while awaiting the arrival of the fire department.
  • Scenario C: Police arrive on the site of a structure (house) fire, in advance of the fire department. Occupants can be seen or heard in the fire area. Deploy The Stat-X First Responder to possibly attempt rescue or at least suppress and hold the fire in check until the fire department arrives.


  • Scenario A: The worst case — fire erupts in a manhole with worker stuck in the manhole and either incapacitated or unable to escape though the flames. Co-worker immediately deploys First Responder and tosses it into the manhole away from the trapped worker. It will suppress/extinguish the fire, buying valuable time for evacuation or power shutdown.
  • Scenario B: Underground transformer fire, or any below grade enclosed space fire. Just twist and pull the ring, toss First Responder in. Deploy another as necessary to suppress/extinguish the fire reducing damage and downtime.
