You need a spill control and containment plan if your facility stores, manufactures, transports or handles hazardous materials or chemicals.
An accident involving chemical, oil or hazardous material can result in dangerous work environments and polluted waterways.
Sorbents are insoluble materials or mixtures of materials used to recover liquids through the mechanism of absorption, or adsorption, or both.
Sorbents can be divided into three basic categories:
- Natural organic sorbents: Peat moss, straw and hay are examples. Organic sorbents can absorb 3 to 15 times their weight in oil.
- Natural inorganic sorbents: Clay, perlite and sand are examples.
- Synthetic sorbents: Man-made materials that are similar to plastics like polyurethane, polyethylene, and polypropylene. They are designed to adsorb liquids onto their surfaces.
Levitt-Safety is Canada’s leading provider in spill control and containment products. Here is a selection of our most popular equipment.
QuickBerm Flexible Spill Containment Systems
Spill berms are the ultimate catch cans. Whether used underneath leaky machinery or a transport tanker, spill berms are portable pools that can be deployed to create a catch basin for chemical products that prevent environmental contamination.
QuickBerm is collapsable spill containment berms from Justrite. These can be constructed to custom sizes to fit practically any spill control situation and are quick and easy to deploy for drive-through, emergency, decontamination or preventative applications.
Flexible Spill Leak Containment & Control
We carry Justrite’s line of preventative and emergency drip/leak protection and stormwater control products provides economical temporary or flexible spill protection options. Products include:

Drum plugs come in a variety of shapes and sizes. These can be used for plugging punctures in different types of vessels, from drums and totes, all the way to train tankers. These can be secured by magnets, tourniquet straps, or even zip ties to hold them in place as a temporary seal while you transfer the remaining fluids into another vessel.
Drain plug and covers can be used as quick response items to prevent spilled chemicals from entering drains and contaminating stormwater systems and the environment – the leading causes of pollution to lakes and rivers. These products can be simply deployed over or into a drain to protect our waterways from a variety of hazards like chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, sediment, litter, and other pollutants.
