Air Carts, Compressors & Breather Boxes
Very rarely does one single source of air supply satisfy all breathing applications. Bottled air is NOT subject to atmospheric contamination and can be mobilized very easily. In remote and short term use where plant air is unavailable, breathing air cylinder carts allow the worker to have the respiratory production to complete the work fully protected.
These breathing air cylinders come in a variety of air pressures and capacities. Most common sized small cylinders (45 cubic ft., 60 cubic ft., and 87 cubic ft. @ pressures of 2216 PSI up to 4500 PSI) Large cylinders (300 cubic ft., 444 cubic ft., 472 cubic ft., and 509 cubic ft. @ pressures of 2400 PSI up to 6000 PSI). All of our cylinders are shipped empty due to DOT regulations and can be filled at commercial breathing air suppliers, fire departments, and dive shops willing to fill your cylinders for a fee.
Breathing air compressor systems are designed with respirator use as the focused utility. The size of the compressor, FDA Food-grade lubricating oil, Grade – D filtration, CO monitor, refrigerated dryer, receiver tank with condensation drain, and air distribution system must be specifically sized for the number of workers and types of respirators in use. A plant compressor is not designed for this purpose.
OSHA CFR 29, 1910.134 regulations specify workers breathing air quality by referencing the Compressed Gas Association’s G 7.1, 1989 description of air quality for respiration as GRADE – D breathing air. To achieve that quality, the air must be filtered for particulates, oil, aerosols, and offensive odors. Additionally, the air must be monitored for carbon monoxide (an odorless, colorless, and tasteless gas that can be fatal if inhaled in quantities. Our filtration products provide GRADE – D air and monitor for carbon monoxide.
