Self-Retracting Lifelines (SRLs)
Self-retracting lifelines (SRLs) are fall protection devices designed to immediately stop a fall and work much in the same way a car’s seat belt does. When you reach a certain level of speed or force, the device’s locking mechanism engages, arresting the downward motion of the individual falling. This prevents the worker from falling more than a few inches. The cable or webbing retracts up into the housing to eliminate dangerous slack in the lifeline.
