On October 4, the government of Ontario introduced a province-wide mandate requiring people to wear masks or face coverings in public indoor spaces.

On hearing this news, you might have thought “wasn’t that already in place?”

And it was, sort of.

As bylaws put in place by municipalities.

Now, it’s a blanket ruling for all of Ontario.

You are now required to wear a mask/face covering in the following places:

  • indoor public spaces like stores, event spaces, entertainment facilities and common areas in hotels
  • workplaces and offices where physical distancing is not possible, and
  • vehicles that operate as part of a business or organization including taxis and rideshares.

You do not need to wear a mask/face covering if you:

  • work in an area that allows you to maintain a 2-meter distance from anyone else while you are indoors
  • are a child under 2
  • have a medical condition that inhibits your ability to wear a mask
  • can’t put on or remove your mask without help from someone else
  • receive accommodations according to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 or the Human Rights Code, or
  • are in a correctional institution, or are a young person in a custody or detention program

There are also some more nuanced rules about wearing a face mask in situations like:

  • university dorms
  • retirement homes
  • film, tv and theatre rehearsals, and
  • eating or drinking at a restaurant.

You can read about these excemptions on the Government of Ontario website.

How to choose the best face mask:

We are going to be wearing masks for a while, so you should buy comfortable masks.

More than that, you should buy comfortable masks from a reputable source.

Wait, let’s add to that.

You should buy comfortable masks, from a reputable source, that have gone through an extensive quality assurance check.

Yes, that’s the one.

And, not to brag, the masks we sell check all three of those boxes.

Our suggestions for comfortable* masks:

One final reminder:

It’s crucial to remember that masks are not a replacement for physical distancing and good hand hygiene.

Most of our hand sanitizer is made with USP-grade alcohol, and we clearly label it as such, so it’s safe for use by children and pregnant women.

Stay safe, and if you need any type of PPE to stay more safe, contact us.

If we don’t have it in stock, there’s a good chance it’s on the way or our talented procurement team can track it down for you.

All you have to do is ask.
