Levitt-Safety was proud to attend the Canada’s Safest Employer Gala as the Diamond Sponsor last Tuesday October 24th. Hosted by Canadian Occupational Safety and Thomas Reuters, Canada’s Safest Employers recognizes companies across Canada that demonstrate excellence in health and safety, with judging based on a number of elements including  leadership commitment, employee training, OHS management systems, incident investigation, emergency preparedness and innovative health and safety initiatives.

More than 40 awards were handed out to 34 companies at the gala event in Toronto, with Levitt-Safety presenting three awards in the following categories:

  • Canada’s Best Health & Safety Culture Award (Gold & Silver) – presented by Julie McFater, Director of Marketing at Levitt-Safety
  • Mining and Natural Resources (Gold & Silver) – presented by Rich Humber, North American Channel Manager at Northern Light Technologies

Canada’s Safest Employers Gala boasts 10 industry-specific award categories, ranging from hospitality and health care to mining and manufacturing. Three special awards were also handed out: the Wellness Award (employee overall well-being); the Psychological Safety Award (employee mental health); and the Young Worker Safety Award (an employer with programs geared for keeping workers under age 25 safe).
The final and most coveted award of the evening is Canada’s Best Health + Safety Culture Award, which recognizes a company that not only has all everyone in its organization committed to safety (from C-suite executives to workers in the field), but also extends this passion for safety into the broader community.
